Many dog owners give their pets Benadryl for dogs as it seems to cure many ailments they may have just as it does for us.

It is important that you only give your dog the correct dosage when administering Benadryl and for this you need to know the weight of your dog.

In general terms the recommended dose is 1mg per pound that your dog weighs. So if your dog weighs 10 pounds the correct dose would be 10mg. Similarly if your dog weighs 25 pounds the correct dose will be 25mg.

How many times can you give Benadryl to your dog? You should give this every 8 hours as a general rule or 3 times a day.

Now this dose is higher than for us humans but it seems to suit dogs and causes no harm.

As with all these things it is always best to check with your Vet but I think you will find this is OK.
