You see it at North Carolina Pride Parade ever year, more and more children towed behind in wagons with same-sex parents or single GLBT moms or dads. Maybe this is a sign that more parents are flocking to the liberal oasis of the Triangle area or perhaps more are coming out and seeking community! Beyond this annual gathering, GLBT parents find each other in their own neighborhoods, within welcoming faith-based communities and on local area listservs. The largest GLBT family organization in the area is Triangle Families. Started as a Yahoo group many years ago, Triangle Families is now boasting over 400 members. The group is diverse from gay parents with two kids to single foster dads to wannabe parents interested in adopting. They host monthly pizza socials around the Triangle, as well as special kid-friendly events and outings every couple of months. Newcomers and interested volunteers are always welcome! This group provides a great way for parents to exchange ideas about resources from day care facilities to pediatricians. See the hotlink below to get on the Triangle Families listserv
